Vakacha

Privacy Policy

Last updated 3 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Vakacha collects when you use our app or website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

1. What we collect

  • Account details: name, email, phone number, and password (stored hashed, never in plain text).
  • Booking details: guest names, dates, party size, messages exchanged with your host, and — for flight bookings — passport number, expiry date and nationality for each traveller, required by airlines for ticketing.
  • Saved passenger profiles you add to your account, to speed up future flight checkouts.
  • Payment confirmations from Paynow and Paystack, or a receipt reference for cash payments (Vakacha does not store your card or mobile money details — those are handled directly by the payment provider).
  • Device push-notification tokens, if you enable notifications, so we can deliver booking updates and messages to your device.
  • Listing reports and reviews you submit, including your reporter email if you submit a report while signed out.
  • Basic usage and diagnostic data — device type, app version, and activity logs — used to keep the service reliable and secure.

2. How we use it

To create and fulfil bookings, communicate with you and your host or Partner about a booking, process payments and payouts, verify traveller identity for flights, respond to listing reports, send push notifications and transactional emails you haven't opted out of, prevent fraud and abuse, and improve the service.

3. Who we share it with

Partners (hosts) see the guest and booking details needed to fulfil your stay, package or charter — not your full account details. Airlines and our flight-booking infrastructure provider receive passenger and passport details required for ticketing. Paynow and Paystack process payments directly and receive what's needed to complete the transaction. We may disclose information where required by law, to protect the rights or safety of Vakacha, our users, or the public, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We don't sell personal information to third parties.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

Our website uses essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember basic preferences. We don't use third-party advertising cookies or trackers.

5. Data security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, and access controls limiting who inside Vakacha can see what. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and respond quickly to any issue.

6. Data retention

We keep booking records for as long as needed for accounting, tax and dispute purposes, and delete or anonymise data that's no longer needed for these purposes. If you delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal data except where we're required to retain it (for example, financial records).

7. Your choices and rights

You can review and update your personal details, saved passengers and notification settings from your account at any time. You can turn push notifications on or off in Settings. You can request a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or delete your account entirely — account deletion is available directly from the app, under Profile → Security & sessions, or by contacting us.

8. Children's privacy

Vakacha is not intended for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children, and we'll delete any such data if we become aware of it.

9. International transfers

Because Vakacha works with partners and infrastructure providers across different countries, your information may be processed outside the country you're in. Where that happens, we expect the same standard of care described in this policy to apply.

10. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time; material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notified in the app.

11. Contact

Questions about this policy, or requests relating to your personal data, can be sent to our support team through the Help & support option in the app, or via the contact details on our website.
